Wild Heart Sanctuary has a confusing and outdated website that leads users to abandon the site prematurely and as a result the donation flow suffers.
30 people were surveyed, usability tests were conducted on the current website with 5 different people and feedback from the owner of the organization was optained.
The survey helped us get an idea of how people donations to nonprofits and what their habits are around it.
The usability tests and owner feedback gave us an idea of what the most challening parts of the current website were. The donation flow was identified as a huge probelm for the site as there were varying flows for visitors to the site to donate and each had their own mechanism for retrieving the donation."
Based on the user research conducted we were able to come up with Lauren Diaz, our user persona. She loves horses and wants to contribute what she can to help where there is a need. Whether it be a monetary donation or a donation of her time. She also likes being active outdoors and always focuses on her emotional and mindful well being.
We started with a basic wireframe to get the general layout of things. We started with a mobile first design to capture he most important elements. Using the data collected from our user research we were able to put together a better donation flow.
After we did some user testing of the basic wireframe we iterated on the design to create a highfidelity prototype.
With the research, testing and prototyping we did, we were able to come up with a great design to help improve the goal of creating an efficient workflow for making donations. The new site is a lot more fluid and visually connecting. Making the donation button front and center and removing the different workflows for donation and making it one really makes the process easier for contributors to the sanctuary.
